Integrated MicroLED Assembly and QD Colour-Conversion Technologies for Microdisplays

MicroLED displays offer outstanding brightness, contrast, efficiency, and resolution. Yet their fabrication is limited not by a single process but by the compatibility and complexity of different processes as well as yield of the entire process chain. At micrometre-scale pixel pitches, transfer, interconnection, electrical driving, and colour conversion must be co-optimised since each process step directly constrains the performance and manufacturability of the next. This masterclass presents a MicroLED Assembly approach using laser-enabled Lift-Off, Laser Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT), micrometre-scale flip-chip interconnections, as well as stable QD colour-conversion materials and their printing processes, which connect these critical technologies in an integrated Si-CMOS microdisplay platform.
