Is graphene ready for use in a gigawatt-hour battery manufacturing?
VoltaXplore, a joint venture of NanoXplore and Martinrea has announced plans to build a gigafactory in Canada that uses graphene enhanced anodes. NanoXplore’s proprietary graphene-silicon anodes are currently used in VoltaXplore’s 18650 cylindrical cells that are manufactured in a recently commissioned demonstration battery plant in Montreal. These batteries have successfully demonstrated high specific capacity with excellent cycle life and are on track to be mass-produced in Canada. From raw materials to cylindrical cells, this talk will give you an overview of how graphene’s promise for massive energy storage is finally coming true.
