Revolutionising sensing and diagnostics with 3D carbon nanomaterials

The Future of Electronics RESHAPED 2025

21 October 2025

Berlin, Germany

Estrel

Three-dimensional (3D) carbon nanomaterials are redefining the landscape of sensing and diagnostics, offering outstanding opportunities for high-performing, low-cost, and sustainable solutions. One of the key enablers of this wonder material is the seamless integration into different systems enabling customised solutions for various sensing and diagnostics applications.

This presentation explores recent advances in 3D nanocarbon materials, Gii™, highlighting the electrochemical benefits of the large-surface-area, porous, carbon frameworks in enhancing signal transduction, bioreceptor immobilization, and multiplexed analyte detection. Offering innate low non-specific adsorption and biocompatible properties, and capabilities to be used to detect different analytes including metabolites, biomarkers and infectious agents, Gii™ is revolutionising diagnostics and sensing across various markets that address barriers of the existing technology and outperforming conventional carbon and noble metals. Moreover, the novel manufacturing methodologies with roll-to-roll and low-temperature fabrication processes offers a pathway toward fully integrated, cost-effective PoC diagnostic devices.

We demonstrate the critical role that 3D carbon nanomaterials are playing in creating innovative opportunities to transform the sensing and diagnostics landscape. Additionally, the exceptional properties of these materials have demonstrated significant impact in other applications including catalysis, energy storage, and flexible heating elements.
