In parallel established a 5 years collaboration with the Dentistry Department in order to increase the knowledge and awareness about dental materials in this sector. In 2008 decided to leave the Academic path to jump into the entrepreneurial adventure and joining full-time the start-up Genefinity, a spin-off of the University of Trieste, which she founded in 2005 together with 3 other PhD colleagues. The company grew successfully for about 10 years by developing specific competences on thin films depositions, mainly PVD and ALD techniques, with main markets biomedical, food, solar and cosmetic. Speaker: Glenn Alers | Company: Soliculture | Date: 12 May 2021 | Full Presentation Luminescent solar collectors (LSC) were first proposed in 1976 as a “Luminescent Greenhouse Collector”. However, large scale commercial implementation of LSCs did not materialized until recently. Soliculture introduced the first commercial scale LSC in 2015 designed specifically for greenhouse crop production. Over 50,000 sq.ft. of LSC greenhouses have been installed in the US and Canada and are producing crops commercially. The LSC design uses an organic luminescent material that matches photosynthesis efficiency to improve plant growth. This talk will review the design and manufacturing challenges associated with bringing an LSC to large scale commercial production. He is an inventor of the Laser Engineered Net Shaping (LENS) process developed at Sandia National Laboratories. Mr. Keicher is a founder of Optomec and was instrumental in the development and commercialization of the LENS and Aerosol Jet printing processes at Optomec. While at Optomec, Mr. Keicher was instrumental in growing Optomec from approximately $150k/year to over $10M/year prior to exiting Optomec in 2011. Mr. Keicher returned to Sandia in 2011 after his exit from Optomec to focus on developing new technologies in the AM arena. During his tenure at Sandia, Mr. Keicher was able to collaborate with Dr. Marcelino Essien to develop the next generation aerosol printing technology trademarked NanoJet™. Together Dr. Essien and Mr. Keicher have developed and productized the NanoJet printing technology to address needs in aerosol printing. Mr. Keicher joined Integrated Deposition Systems (IDS) in July 2018 to help drive the commercialization of the NanoJet technology at IDS. The NanoJet print technology is gaining industry acceptance by providing a compact, reliable, easy to use and cost-effective aerosol printing technology well suited for production applications. In this talk, I will share the progresses on flexible QLEDs development and photomedical studies at University of Central Florida, QLEDCures and our medical partner institutions. The perspective of flexible QLEDs for various photomedical applications in the near and long term will be discussed. At UbiQD, we are making QDs ubiquitous across several industries with a new composition that is intrinsically more stable, lower-cost, and avoids toxic compounds. We are currently focusing on bringing to market QD-tinted films and glass for spectrum-optimized greenhouses. Speaker: Philipp Rouast | Company: Rouast Labs | Date: 13-14 October 2021 | Full Presentation Simple RGB video of the human face gives away physiological information through tiny changes in skin color and motion — imperceptible to the human eye, but measurable by the computer to produce estimates of vital signs such as heart rate and respiration rate. The technology that accomplishes this is know as remote photoplethysmography (rPPG), highlighting its major advantage of not requiring physical contact between subject and sensor. First proposed in 2008, rPPG has yet to be widely commercialized. This is in part due to the difficulty in obtaining reliable measurements in challenging real-world conditions, especially regarding illumination conditions and subject movement. This talk will (i) introduce the basis for the signals obtained with camera sensors, (ii) walk through the technological improvements made by researchers since 2008, and (iii) summarize current issues and give an outlook on future applications.
